Microsoft HoloLens, HTC Re Vive, and Samsung Virtual Reality (VR)

Microsoft HoloLens, HTC Re Vive, and Samsung Virtual Reality (VR) are three new technologies highlighted on the  Immersive Education site.  It appears that this technology will also be highlighted at the Immersive Education Summit 2015 in Paris.

HoloLens was developed and release by Microsoft this past January.  HoloLens is holographic computing which integrates holographic images into your life.  From the video is appears that these 3 dimensional holographs provide realistic assistance with "seeing" what is not there and then allows the person to make better decisions.  The example they showed was the expansion of a fuel tank on a motor cycle.  It would certainly make it less expensive to see if a new design worked without having to build whatever you were designing.

HTC Re Vive is a virtual reality headset that was developed by HTC, a smartphone and table maker in collaboration with video game company Valve.  This product is a competitive gaming goggle to the Oculus Rift. The advantage of the HTC Re Vive is that with base stations and hand controls the person's physical movements become part of the experience.

The Samsung Virtual Reality (VR) is the last of the new technologies that was introduced. This is a step up from their Gear VR and is compatible with the S6 and S6 Edge.  The advantages are it is lighter, has ventilation, extra processing power, and high resolution.  This is another VR goggle that would be in direct competition with the Oculus Rift.
