Professor discussed the aspect of intellectual property as it pertains the the immersive education environment.  It is an environment that is open and royalty free, everyone one has access to it.  He went on to explain what was meant by open and then indicated that recently commercial technology has been added.

This was the slide used to explain:What is immersive education?  He explained that it was a suite of technologies and includes the 4 technologies listed.

The virtual world is used to work with students with Autism.  It was explained that this environment brings some of the social aspects of education to those students.  This environment allows the learning experience to be tailored to the needs of the student.
This screenshot illustrates both a live environment and a virtual environment that duplicates the live environment.  In the live environment, the students have access to professionals from all around the world like from the Smithsonian Research center.  He shows a live example of an animal, explains what is going on and then they have the ability to navigate through that environment in the virtual world.

This is an assignment for an immersive education course that I am taking at Boston College.  The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.  For details visit immersive BC portal at
